James Arthur Haddix, 84, of Hamilton, went to be with the Lord on October 8, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born to the late Stanley and Juanita (Lindon) Haddix on April 9, 1933 in Insko, KY. Jim served his county in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Hugh Bates Masonic Lodge for 50 years. Jim was an avid Harley Davidson rider and traveled to 48 states, Mexico and Canada. He also loved buying and selling antiques. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ruby LaVerne; three daughters Shirley (David) Cornett, Diane (Gary) Coy, Lisa Stratton; six grandchildren Tony, Andy (Vicki), Tammy, Jimmy, Jason and Michael; seven great grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; sister Bonnie Akers; special friend Mike Verdin and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Cathy Hacker; granddaughter Cynthia Brannon and great grandson Daniel Smith. A visitation will be held at Ivey Funeral Home on Friday, October 13, from 11am-12pm with a funeral service to follow at 12pm. Officiating the service will be Pastor Dennis Betts. Burial to take place at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. A special thanks from the family to the ICU Trauma Team and nurses of UC Hospital Medical Center for their loving care.
